THE WORLD AS MY WITNESS

Sticking to another Groupon deal, I went to Iceland with my good friend AP, whom I've known since highschool (wow 10 years??) Now I've wanted to go to Iceland for a loong time, even before Beyonce went (which only solidified my need to go). We went the week after Thanksgiving, and so it was winter season in Iceland. This was also right after the US election so this was our escape route and chance to look for Icelandic spouses and seek refuge. Another redeye, and we arrived to Iceland early morning. Much to the advice from other people, we got a lot of groceries from the grocery store at the airport. By groceries I mean alcohol. Since it was winter in Iceland, that meant that Iceland only got about 6 hours of sunlight every day, from 10am to about 430pm. After booking an impromptu Groupon trip to Portugal, I spent a week  in April 2016 in Lisbon, Fatima, Sintra, and Sao Miguel with my roommate, TL, and her mom. My roommate/friend knew I was having a hard time earlier in the year and I think she was kind enough to invite me cause she knew I needed a pick-me-up. (just a warning: even if it's just a courtesy invitation to go travel somewhere, I'll still take you up on it hehe). I spent the preceding week on Duolingo to learn some Portuguese. We took the redeye from Boston, and landed in Lisbon early morning. Right after, my friend's mom Deb and I took the bus to Fatima, a place known for Mary apparitions and a general mystical religious place.
