Breezy 80 degrees in Dalat

I thought waking up at 5 in the morning in Nha Trang feeling slightly nauseous was bad, but it only got worse from there. After waiting for over an hour (which meant I definitely had time to go the to beach since I uh overslept), the bus to Dalat was a sleeper bus even though it was only a 5 hour ride. It was crowded too, a family had to sleep on top of each other next to me in the aisle. It was so freaking hot too like there wasn't enough AC. I laid there with my eyes closed tight to fight the headache and nausea and my knees bent over my bag. To make matters worse, the roads from Nha Trang to Dalat were abysmal for buses. They were country mountainous roads and the bus kept getting stuck in potholes and spend 5 minutes each time trying to go forward.

Finally finally we arrived around 1. I didn't feel like walking around the city to find my hotel so luckily I found a motorbike guy to take me and my luggage for 50 cents! I was a little apprehensive at first since I had a pretty big luggage but the attitude of the Vietnamese is that if you say its okay then everything will be ok. The driver had good English and he sounded like Kermit the frog.

When I got to the hotel which was really close, I took a 3 hour nap to recover. Compared to all the other paces I've been, its pretty chilly here. Chilly enough to wear a jacket which I did-good thing cause it started to rain while i was walking even though I asked the receptionist before I left if she thought it will rain and she said no. Since I was starving, I walked to the market to get food which ended up being banh minh -Vietnamese sandwich, coconut, and pastry.Even though I really wanted to east the pastry my stomach want feeling up to it.
My tour the next morning started with the kings summer palace, then we went to a famous Catholic church. After was the cable car! Dalat is pretty rural so there was a lot of nature to see and also French villa architecture. Then we went to a place of meditation where the monks are and they had a lovely garden.

Next was waterfalls. There are two ways to see it: by foot or by mini roller coaster. I figured I should get some exercise so I walked all the steep steps. Walking back up was something awful, but if Asians wearing high heels and blistering shoes can do it, then I can do it. Of course by the time I got all the way back up, I realized I took pictures with my camera not my phone so I'll have to upload them on here later. We ate at a fancy restaurant for lunch, but I over did it since my stomach still has been sensitive. After lunch was the Valley of Love which was a nice garden with lots of heart decorations. Then was Japan flower place, followed by the big Buddha statue. The tour guide said that Dalat has never known war because of an agreement between France and America which I thought was cool. And they have something called artichoke tea which is surprisingly sweet.

When I got dropped off after the tour, I went to get a massage after that dreadful bus ride. When I asked the reception for recommendation, she never gave me exact directions so I don't know if I went to the right place. I found a place around where she pointed on a map and it was pretty cheap like 8 dollars for an hour at a hotel. The foot massage was good but it hurts. And she didn't spend enough time on my back, plus when she wanted to she wanted 5 dollars! Umm no.

Stomach still feels kind of weird so might just only eat the pastry leftover from yesterday for dinner.

Tomorrow I'm off to Saigon!
